Gate Guard

The Gate Guard’s purpose is to ensure that only members and their registered guests gain entrance into the pool facility. Gate Guards greet and sign-in members and their guests and collect guest fees according to the procedures set forth by the facility. Gate Guards are responsible for explaining club rules and policies to members and their guests. Gate Guards may be 14 years of age and are not required to be certified lifeguards.

Lifeguard/Senior Lifeguard/Payroll Substitute

A lifeguard’s primary responsibilities are to prevent accidents and to ensure the safety and control of all patrons. When no gate guard is present lifeguards are also responsible for maintaining front gate control by enforcing the proper front gate procedures set forth by their respective club. In addition, lifeguards are responsible for completing pre-established daily and hourly tasks, and a variety of tasks listed on the Job Board.
Required Certifications
Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED, Pool Operators (senior lifeguards only).

Head Lifeguard

The Head Lifeguard’s responsibilities include that of a lifeguard, as well as, being responsible for the guard staff’s rotation schedule and work projects. This includes daily opening and closing procedures, hourly procedures, and tasks listed on the Job Board. In establishing the rotation schedule, the Head Lifeguard appoints each lifeguard to designated stations at specified times throughout their scheduled hours for the day. The Head Lifeguard is a key participant in the rotation schedule. The Head Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining unity among the lifeguarding staff and shall serve as a liaison between the lifeguards and the Manager.
Required Certifications
Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED, Pool Operators.

Assistant Manager

The Assistant Manager’s responsibilities include those of a lifeguard and Head Lifeguard as well as assuming the responsibilities of Manager when they are not present. They are responsible for the accounting of all guest fees and maintaining an accurate guest list. The Assistant Manager has direct control of and responsibility for the operation of the pool’s filtration system, chemical quality, ordering of chemicals and supplies, and the general appearance of the facilities. They will call the pool on their days off, unless leaving the Metropolitan area, and leave an emergency phone number where they can be reached.

Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED, Pool Operators.

Manager

The Manager’s responsibilities include all those previously stated along with the total operation of the facility, 24 hours a day. Nothing should occur that they do not know and approve of. They are responsible for implementing all NVPools and respective swim club rules and policies. The Manager should make sure that their staff members come to them first for answers; if necessary, they can call their Cluster Supervisor for assistance.
It is important to keep consistent communication with the club’s pool committee and the NVPools’ office. This communication ensures that all issues requiring attention are resolved in a timely manner. The Manager will call the pool on their days off, unless leaving the Metropolitan area, and leave an emergency phone number where they can be reached. A Manager’s end goal is to gain the respect of staff members and the patrons, in conjunction with, maintaining a successful season of operations.

Coordinator/Cluster Supervisor

Coordinators direct the management of each club within a multi-facility community by promoting consistency of the operations from one facility to another. They are ultimately responsible for the management of each facility and is the community’s main point of contact in dealing with staff issues, pool procedures and club policy.
Cluster Supervisors facilitate procedure through on-the-job training. They are responsible for developing the on-site management team at each pool. This includes oversight and reporting of all pool operations with a focus on scheduling and adherence to company policies and procedures.
